Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday called upon the members of the armed forces to work together to build a nation free from corruption, poverty and hunger.

She also asked them to stay always prepared for the first and foremost duty of safeguarding the independence and sovereignty of the country even at the cost of the last drop of blood.

The premier was addressing the combined president’s parade of the newly commissioned officers of Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy and Bangladesh Air Force at Bangladesh Military Academy at Bhatiary in Chittagong in the morning, reports our staff correspondent in Chittagong.

Besides, five army cadets, and five midshipmen cadets from Palestine and one midshipmen cadet from the Maldives were commissioned through this parade.

Battalion Senior Under officer Shafiur Rahman was adjudged with the best all-round cadet in the 61st BMA long course and awarded with the sword of honour.

Midshipmen Md Abdullah Al Momin of Midshipmen Batch 2008A was awarded with sword of honour for his best performance among the naval cadets.
