In the wake of growing confusion over turning clocks back from the Daylight Saving Time, the government on Sunday clarified that the clock would be moved back at 11:59pm, not exactly at midnight.
Since the government decided to turn watches back by one hour, many have been thinking that the clocks would strike the midnight twice on the eve of New Year.
The country will return to the daylight saving time, meaning to move the clocks forward by one hour, on March 31 next year, said a government press release.
According to the press release signed by Power Secretary Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad, the DST would continue until 11:59pm on October 31.
The clocks would be moved back again on October 31 for five months.
The cabinet decided to put the clock back by one hour on December 24.
